FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

GENERAL QUESTIONS

WHAT KIND OF PHOTOGRAPHS DO YOU TAKE?

With a diverse background capturing various subjects in styles ranging from music to fashion, commercial, and weddings, I've cultivated a versatile photographic style over my career. Currently, my focus has shifted towards commercial content, specialising in personal branding, food and drink, and product photography. I remain open to discussions about other photography styles and genres. Feel free to reach out for more information.

DO YOU HAVE A STUDIO?

Yes, I currently rent a studio in Hull and also have the ability to bring a travel size studio to a location of your choosing.

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER I ENQUIRE?

Once you have filled out the contact form, I will reach out to ask for more information about the project. To save time, it's always best to put as much information as you can in the contact form.

I will then arrange an initial consultation with you so I can get to know you and your business. Together we will craft a visual style and a plan of action that's tailored towards your brand and your goals. As well as all the fun stuff, we will also handle the less exciting side of contracts and payment.

Once we have a plan in place, I'll get to work creating the images that will bring your vision to life. I'm dedicated to making the most of our time together, using my expertise and creativity to deliver high-quality content that stands out from the crowd. My ultimate goal is not to meet your expectations, but exceed them. So let's work together and make your vision a reality!

ARE THERE ANY TRAVEL FEES FOR LOCATIONS OUTSIDE YOUR STANDARD AREA?

Yes. For any shoots outside of a 30 miles radius of Scunthorpe, I charge 45p per mile.

WHAT IS THE TURNAROUND TIME ON A PHOTOSHOOT?

For most photography projects, a week is my standard delivery time as I am often handling multiple projects simultaneously. If you require a faster delivery, I can offer a rush delivery at an additional charge based on my availability. If you have any deadline requirements, it's best to ask upon enquiry.

HOW FAR IN ADVANCE SHOULD I BOOK A PHOTOGRAPHY SESSION?

Booking a few weeks to a month in advance allows more availability and proper planning. Last-minute sessions may be accommodated based on availability.

DO YOU PROVIDE SOCIAL MEDIA-FRIENDLY VERSIONS OF PHOTOS FOR SHARING ONLINE?

Yes, I offer optimized versions of photos tailored for various social media platforms to ensure optimal image quality and engagement, as well as files optimised for printing.

DO YOU OFFER DIGITAL FILES OR PRINTS?

I offer both digital and printed formats. I deliver my image galleries through Pic-Time which allows you to view, download and choose printing methods for your images.

PERSONAL BRANDING PHOTOGRAPHY

WHAT MAKES PERSONAL BRANDING PHOTOGRAPHY DIFFERENT FROM TRADITIONAL HEADSHOTS?

A traditional headshot is typically taken in a studio or office environment on a plain background. This style of image is great for profile pictures, company websites, and large teams. They can also be great for displaying continuity across images.

Personal branding photography has similar characteristics  but allows for a little more creativity. Personal branding photography is all about an individual's personality, brand, and story. It aims to convey a broader narrative and provide a more complete picture of a business' values and beliefs. This works really well for small businesses and solo creators, especially those that make things by hand. It can be a great way to showcase what you do and how you do it.

CAN YOU PROVIDE GUIDANCE ON SLECTEING THE RIGHT LOCATION FOR A PERSONAL BRANDING PHOTOSHOOT

Choose a location that reflects your brand and personality. This could be your workplace, a cityscape, or a natural setting. Just note that time of day and weather conditions are crucial for outdoor shoots so please speak to me about when would be best for these types of images.

HOW CAN PERSONAL BRANDING PHOTOGRAPHY BE USED ACROSS VARIOUS MARKETING CHANNELS?

Personal branding photos can be used on websites, social media, business cards, and marketing materials to create a consistent brand image and foster recognition across different channels. It also provides uniformity across your brand images, meaning each image will have a cohesive style that matches the rest.

DO YOU OFFER ON-LOCATION  PHOTOGRAPHY SERVICES?

Yes, I provide on-location photography services, but I also have a studio available that is suitable for product and portrait photography.

FOOD AND DRINK PHOTOGRAPHY

WHAT LIGHTING IS BEST FOR FOOD PHOTOGRAPHY?

For venues with large windows, natural light is ideal for creating soft even light. I would only recommend this for short shoots because this is very dependent on the weather forecast as sudden lighting changes can affect the uniformity of your images.

For smaller venues and longer shoots, I use professional studio lighting to give controllable, soft light that provides consistency across all images. However these can be large and distracting so it's best to use these on a time where the venue is closed or very quiet and to make customers aware of this.

DO YOU PROVIDE STYLING AND PROP SERVICES FOR FOOD SHOOTS?

Yes, I offer food styling services and can provide props to enhance the visual appeal of your dishes during the photoshoot. Please be aware that I am not a professional food stylist so if you have a specific image in mind, please mention this in your form.

PRODUCT PHOTOGRAPHY

HOW CAN I PREPARE MY PRODUCTS FOR A PHOTOGRAPHY SESSION TO MAKE THEM LOOK THEIR BEST?

Proper product preparation, including cleaning and styling, can significantly enhance the visual appeal of your products in photographs. While I am able edit minor imperfections, photographing the best version of your product will lead to the most desirable result.
